"The future of democracy hinges on the informed participation of its youth."

Ruhamah Ifere, Founder

Trully Verify Africa was founded in 2023 by Ruhamah Ifere, following her tenure as an election observer with the Center for Democracy and Development — where she saw firsthand how false information was pushing young people away from civic life.

That observation became a mission: build the tools and the literacy Africa's youth need to tell fact from fiction. The flagship Media Information Literacy project, "Co-Creating Antibodies to Fake News," has since become the organisation's core youth program.

The work has carried Trully Verify Africa from the Code for Africa Hackathon to the Lagos Digital Democracy Fair with YIAGA Africa, UKinNigeria and Civic Hive, and to the Regional Conference on Countering Information Manipulation in West Africa, hosted by the National Democratic Institute and the Center for Democracy and Development.
